| Like many kids growing up in Chicago, wine was a non-factor in Justin's life. Milk was on the table and beer was the beverage of choice at family gatherings. In his early 20s while working as an chemical engineer and software programmer he became interested in wine. After years of consumerism and going on wine trips he became more passionate about wine, becoming a home winemaker, and finally in 2006 working as an intern at Bevan Cellars. In 2007 he purchased a ton of Syrah and founded Argot. In 2008 he produced his first chardonnay, in 2010 his first Cabernet Sauvignon and in 2011 the Slang brand was born with the goal of creating a presence in the market by focusing on high quality at affordable prices. Today, they have limited production levels to the current 2400 cases in order to maintain quality and still produce a wide variety of varietals from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah to Cabernet Sauvignon. |
